The Marina is a hamlet of the municipality of Elche, in the province of Alicante (Spain). It is located next to the Mediterranean Sea, at the foot of the Sierra del Molar, very close to Guardamar del Segura and next to the Salinas de Santa Pola. Also the beach of a kilometer and a half in front of the town of La Marina receives the same name.It has non-urban beaches, with dune systems and large pine forests. The main beach (Las Pesqueras) is 1,100 meters long, although it continues south with the beach of Los Tusales in Guardamar del Segura.Formerly very oriented to agriculture and fishing, nowadays La Marina’s economy focuses more on sustained tourism thanks to a policy that is very restrictive to uncontrolled urban development.
