Denia (in Valencian and officially Dénia) is a city in the Valencian Community, Spain located on the north coast of the province of Alicante. It is the capital of the Marina Alta region, also known as “Marquesado de Denia”. Mount Montgó occupies a good part of the southern half of the area and has been declared a Natural Park since 1987.6 At its foot extends the Cabo de San Antonio, where the Marine Reserve of the same name is located.6
Between the Montgó and the sea stretches the plain known as Pla de Dénia, where agriculture develops. Along almost 20 kilometers of open seafront to the north and northeast, the low and sandy coasts, with immediate marshlands, as in the northern zone, and the shores and cliffs of Las Rotas, which reach their maximum dimension, follow each other in Cova Tallada, where Denia ends and Jávea begins.
